I got my master’s degree from Triticeae Research Institute in Sichuan Agricultural University, majoring in botany. In my postgraduate study, my main research field was Triticeae Evolution and Systematics. Then, I came to UBC to pursuit my Ph.D degree in Jan. 2010. Now, I’m a Ph.D candidate in Xin Li’s lab, studying plant genetics. My project is to identification and characterization of plant immune regulators through studying suppressors of mos4 snc1. Basically, the goal of our research program is to understand the molecular mechanism of plant innate immunity. Using the model organism Arabidopsis thaliana, we study plant defense against pathogen infection in the context of gene regulation, protein-protein interaction and signal transduction. I hope I can discover new regulatory components of plant disease resistance, which will contribute to enhancing our understanding of the regulatory mechanisms plants utilize to defend themselves against pathogen attack. My motto is ‘Plan for the worst and hope for the best’.
