B.Sc. Plant Biology (2010) University of British Columbia
From a very young age I marvelled at the biodiversity that surrounds us. From the smallest microorganism to the largest of marine mammals, life on this planet fascinated me. My passion for plant biology developed many years later from having to take a second year botany class out of necessity. It changed my life for the better. Whilst completing a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Plant Biology from the University of British Columbia, I was introduced to a new aspect of plant physiology and genetics, the plant innate immune system. This beautifully intricate pathway is the focus for my current research. I hope to elucidate the plant innate immunity pathway by discovering either new genes or new roles for known genes and ameliorate our understanding of plant-microbe interactions through heir characterization.
